International solid state industrial frequency converters
are supplied with 400Hz output or with 60Hz output for
point of use application in laboratories, avionics repair
workshops, hangars and for aircraft ground power in
military locations and civil airports.
Our frequency converters can also
be supplied in single or in parallel configuration to
provide 400Hz or 60Hz power through a ring main distribution
system for multiple item point of use power outlets
for service installations in workshops, hangars and
in hard shelters.
We also supply DC systems for helicopter
starting and for auxiliary generator starting duty for
hangars, repair workshops for apron use and for off
shore helipads and landing platforms.
Our industrial uninterruptible power
supply systems (UPS systems) are supplied to military
locations and to civil airports to provide absolutely
reliable and secure power for navigation aids, air traffic
control systems, passenger check in computers, concourse
emergency lighting, baggage handling computers, security
and surveillance systems, runway lighting, public address
systems, flight information displays and automated people
movers etc.
Line drop compensation equipment is
also supplied for use with centralized 400Hz systems
to compensate for voltage reduction in the circuit feeding
multiple outlets to the point of use at individual aircraft
locations. The 50Hz to 60Hz frequency converters are
supplied for hangar, workshop and apron use for military
locations and civil airports. These converters are also
used for industrial installations where it is necessary
to convert frequency from 50Hz to 60Hz, for shore to
ship services and where American 60Hz equipment needs
to be connected to the available 50Hz mains supply.
Centralised 400Hz frequency
conversion systems
The centralised 400Hz system with multiple converters
connected in parallel and installed in a climatically
controlled plant room would be the preferred scheme
for installations at airports in geographic locations
where very high ambient temperatures prevail. Centralised
400Hz power distribution systems are ideal for the large
multi point installations. The frequency converters
are configured in parallel to share equally the total
load connected to the distribution system. Line drop
compensators or transformers are used at point of power
take off to the aircraft to enable the distribution
system to deliver a precisely regulated voltage at 400Hz
to any aircraft regardless of the number of aircraft
connected to the distribution system.
Single module 400Hz frequency
converters
The single module 400Hz converters can be used for installation
adjacent to the passenger loading bridges or in workshops,
hangars and other point of use applications adjacent
to the aircraft parking place where a centralised system
with distribution would not be a cost effective alternative
consideration. We can also supply and install a variety
of telemetering, remote monitoring, surveillance and
systems that allows full observation of critical functions
of the operational behaviour of the frequency converters,
the interfacing with the connected load and the power
consumption at the point of use.
Frequency converters located adjacent to every aircraft
stand is a very cost effective and flexible arrangement
especially on smaller installations. The single module
frequency converters are simple to connect to normal
available mains sources and they can be located close
to the aircraft point of use without the need for pits
or other apron excavation work.
We have supplied our 400Hz frequency converters, 60Hz
frequency converters and UPS systems to Royal Air Force
locations in the UK and other Commonwealth countries;
we have also supplied our products to the defence forces
of Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and the UAE.
Power Systems International design, offers design consultancy,
manufacture and project management for centralised frequency
converter systems and power distribution for connecting
into existing or new apron pit systems. We also can
supply automatic cable handling and retrieval systems
for passenger loading bridge mounting or the flexible
Z fold crocodile systems for use at the apron point
of aircraft parking and ground service.
400Hz frequency converters and 60Hz frequency converters
are available in capacities of 2kVA to 25kVA with single
phase output and from 7.5kVA to 25kVA with three phase
output designed for workshop and hangar use. Other 400HZ
frequency converters with three phase output are available
from 30kVA up to180kVA, the 180kVA 400Hz frequency converters
are provided with dual output terminals intended for
supplying large aircraft provided with dual input feed
points.
The frequency converters with three phase 60Hz outputs
are available from 7.5kVA to 450kVA and they can be
configured to operate in parallel.
