The “Borri” name was introduced to the UK, European, Middle East and American markets in the early 1980´s by W&A Technology Group who were engaged by the Italian Borri family and American Cyberex company as marketing consultants and specialist engineers to develop the international export markets for their industrial power conversion products and UPS systems.
The brand name of “Borri Power” has been in continuous use by W & A Technology Group since 1985.

We provide creative marketing consultancy, product conceptual and engineering design, application engineering, technical and manufacturing support and product training service for AC and DC power conversion systems. We also support engineering consultants with our specification writing and product sourcing service.

Our 25 years of experience is in the design, procurement, project management and production of custom engineered industrial UPS systems, DC systems for the process industries and for the Oil & Gas producers. Frequency converters of 60Hz for shore to ship service, 400Hz frequency converters for aircraft ground power, defence and aerospace industry. We also have experience in the design and supplying of high stability DC systems for particle accelerator magnets for the plasma physics laboratories and the auxiliary power converters for use on board all types of rail vehicles.

We cover the region of Europe Middle East, Africa, Australia, South East Asia, Canada, USA and the Caribbean Islands. We provide clients with our management support at Corporate level covering product training for their engineers and projects teams, specification writing, procurement advice to select the best appropriate industrial grade power systems for critical duty applications where the conventional commercial products are considered unsuitable.

Our customer support services include the provision of after sales technical support, routine maintenance, repairs and overhauls, supply replacement parts. We also undertake technology upgrading of the auxiliary power converters re engineering where we replace the early generation Thyristor and GTO power semiconductors and control logic with the latest switching technology using IGBT devices.

Some Borri history

Borri Srl Elettronica Industriale was the Italian licensee of Cyberex Inc of the USA and manufactured in Soci the American design of thyristor PWM inverter industrial UPS designs required by the petrochemical engineering EPC companies and other expanding industrial markets.

The W & A Technology group was involved in the development of a new technology range of transistor PWM inverter UPS systems, subsequently manufactured in Italy since 1985. The products were sold in the UK and the EMEA Region by Cyberex International Limited in England and marketed in the USA by Cyberex Inc. Mentor Ohio

W & A Technology took over the international marketing of the new licenced UPS product range from Cyberex International Limited and established Borri Power Systems Limited as a marketing company. Consequent upon internal changes in the Borri Italian company and policy changes in Cyberex USA company, Borri Power Systems Limited changed its name to Power Systems International Limited to extend the export marketing operations for the American, UK and the Italian made products.

The Borri family sold their Borri Srl Elettronica Industriale company to General Signal Corporation in 1990. then sold on to SPX and became one of the Best Power Technology companies, after a very short period SPX sold the Best Power Technology companies to the UK firm BTR PLC. BTR was the owner of Exide, IPM, Deltec, Gould, Prestige, Fiskars and Powerware UPS systems. BTR acquired Siebe and the name was changed to Invensys PLC,the Italian firm lost its BORRI identity again when it was renamed Invensys Power Systems SpA.

The name was subsequently changed again to Powerware SpA. Invensys PLC sold their Powerware businesses in August 2004 to Eaton Corporation and the Powerware SpA company name was changed once more to Eaton Power Quality SpA.

In January 2005 Eaton Corporation offered their Italian subsidiary for sale, thus after a somewhat turbulent period of instabilty and uncertainty over the preceding 10 years it was sold to local Arezzo investors in September 2005. The local investors renamed the Eaton Power Quality SpA company “Borri SpA” (New Borri) but in 2007 the ownership was transferred to the new proprietors Doia Limited, of Edgware Middlesex England.

Now the firm has a benefitted from a much needed stability provided by the new owners and has achieved strong growth of its business.
